Re: Suspension of License (as quoted in the ACT)
Should the professional choose not to practise, or to be outside of this jurisdiction, the professional is required to advise the Council and decide whether to continue with annual licensure or to suspend the license.
Should the license not be suspended and the professional omit to maintain licensure, the professional shall, on resumption of practice, pay, to the Council, arrears at the following schedule:
- Two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for each year prior to and including March 31, 2014.
- Five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for each year as of April 01, 2014 and up to March 31 of the current year.
- For the current year the practitioner shall pay the applicable rate within the specified re-registration period.
Your license may be suspended for one (1) to five (5) years if you will not be practicing in your Profession.
To effect a suspension you should:
- Ensure that you are current with your licensure (paid-up).
- Complete Form E
- Write a letter to the Registrar indicating the reason you are requesting suspension
- The letter and Form E will be submitted for consideration to the Discipline Representative and the Registrar
- A letter of approval/denial will be dispatched to you.
When the suspension period is up you must immediately renew your license for the next Business Year and submit the required number of Continuing Education Hours for your Discipline.
If you do not renew immediately, and allow the suspension to go over five (5) years, you will be required to register anew. This new registration will be subject to all the requirements of the CPSM that are in force at the time of the new registration. This includes qualification criteria
Possible reasons for suspending a license.
- Extended period of Study
- Temporary or Permanent inability to work in the Professional Field
- Temporary engagement in an unrelated Professional Field
- Relocation with the intention of not pursuing employment in the Professional Field
