The Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists for Laboratory Professions

Vitam Excolimus Per Artes (We save lives, by our skill)

About Us

The Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists (CASMET) 1954, is the parent organization for all bodies of Medical Technologists in the region; and yet in the case of the Jamaica branch, it is clearly a situation of the child being older than the parent.

The formation of the Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians in Jamaica in 1953, pioneered the Medical Laboratory Movement in the Caribbean and subsequently led to the geneses of its parent body CASMET.

Mission

To be recognized as the Caribbean Association for medical laboratory professionals dedicated to meeting the needs and requirements of its members and clients, providing dynamic visionary leadership, advocacy at the highest level, educational development, and support for regulatory mechanisms encouraging members to aspire to the highest standards of professional conduct, thereby promoting delivery of quality healthcare.

Vision

Laboratory Professionals partnering to provide Quality Healthcare

CORE VALUES – Excellence, Quality, Integrity, Professionalism (EQuIP)

It is my pleasure to serve this noble profession as their nominee to the legal body (The Council for Professions Allied to Medicine) for the registration and oversight of the members. I encourage all Laboratory Professionals to become a part of CASMET Jamaica Branch, as it is through their foresight and efforts we are eligible to be recognized by the Government of Jamaica as a profession under this grouping. Indeed, laws and regulations are changing so rapidly worldwide, it is imperative Jamaica be an active participant. We are fortunate to also be part of a Caribbean wide association, since many of the changes occurring in laboratories across the region are done at the level of CARICOM and the Ministers of Health fraternity. Become involved. Be informed.
