The Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine is a Public Body with Regulatory Authority, bound by an Act of Parliament called the Professions Supplementary to Medicine (PSM) Act 1969 and its Regulations.
The Council maintains relations with the Ministry of Health and Wellness, other medical councils, the Professional Associations of its clients, employers of its clients and the Public.
The CPSM operates under the Ministry of Health and is responsible for the registration and licensing of various allied health professionals. Its mission is to improve health care quality through effective regulation, continuous professional development, and the promotion of best practices within the healthcare sector. The Council also plays a vital role in advising the Minister of Health on matters relating to supplementary health professions.
