SUSPENSION OF LICENSE

Write a letter to the Registrar indicating the reason you are requesting suspension
The letter and Form E will be submitted for consideration to the Discipline Representative and the Registrar
A letter of approval/denial will be dispatched to you.
Ensure that you are current with your licensure (up to date).
Your license may be suspended for one (1) to five (5) years if you will not be practicing in your Profession.

English Proficiency

ALL FOREIGN NATIONALS WHO DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH AS A FIRST LANGUAGE MUST SUBMIT A CERTIFICATE OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY FROM AN APPROVED INTERNATIONAL SOURCE/AGENCY.

Additional Requirements for Specific Applicants

Here’s a list of Additional Requirements for Specific Professions

Medical Technologist

Proof of Internship CSEC passes (grades 1-3) in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and one (1) other approved academic subject.

Radiography

Letter of completion of Program from Director, SMRT, UWI.

Dietitian

Proof of internship

Psychology

2500 supervised practice hours- (log, letter) Foreign nationals- 500 supervised practice hours, additional, for cultural experience evidence

Suspension of License

Should the professional choose not to practice, or to be outside of this jurisdiction, the professional is required to advise the Council and decide whether to continue with annual licensure or to suspend the license?

Possible reasons for suspending a license.

  • Extended period of Study
  • Temporary or Permanent inability to work in the Professional Field
  • Temporary engagement in an unrelated Professional Field
  • Relocation with the intention of not pursuing employment in the Professional Field

CREDIT HOURS FOR RENEWAL

  • All Professionals registered under the CPSM must renew their practice licenses annually.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) also allows Professionals to earn Credit Hours needed for annual renewal.
  • Credit Hours for renewal in any year must be earned between April 1 of the previous year and March 31 of the current year.
  • Proof of Credit Hours earned must be submitted at the same time as the renewal application and annual fee for the new year.
  • The annual requirement for each Profession is listed in the Schedule below.
